EDUCATION: Behavioral Health Assessments

Did you know that you, as a healthcare professional, have FREE 24-hour access to behavioral health professionals to assist you with your patients (and their families) care when it comes to behavioral health matters? This is owned and operated by Wellstar and its employees.

(770) 732-3789

Why would you, a patient or family member call this number? You may want to call this number if you have a patient who is having thoughts of hurting themselves or others or who is lashing out at staff verbally or physically. Family members may have a need to call this number if their loved one (recently brought home from the hospital) begins to say things that sound threatening to themselves or to the family (i.e. They seem depressed, agitated, extremely angry or volatile.) In addition, the 24-Hour Call Center fields calls related to depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and substance abuse as well.

These are just a few of the many reasons you may consider calling the Behavioral Health Assessment 24-Hour Call Center to speak with to a Psych Assessor. You do not need a physician order to call this number. However, when dealing with an inpatient, you should always work within the chain-of-command starting with the patient's nurse, resource nurse, manager, physician, and administration (such as the House Supervisor.) The Call Center can help you in deciding what your next step will be. This is especially important if we are talking about a patient who is exhibiting signs that they may harm themselves or others immediately or sometime in the future.
